Geohashing has a lot of weaknesses and limitations, not really recommended unless your use case is very simple and not primarily geospatial in nature. Most developers are unaware of just how broken most half-assed implementations are the databases do just enough to check a box but not actually be useful if you are doing real geospatial work. This is a very complex and nuanced piece of mathematics and software engineering work that requires writing a massive amount of code, even most closed source databases don't do a real implementation due to the difficulty. For me PGSQL was the only one capable to do this reliable.įor true geospatial data models that correctly implement most geospatial predicates and operators your only practical option is PostGIS or Oracle Spatial. When you do that within a second, you got yourself a good database. No more then a thousand points of interest, lets say. Make a small application that will show a map, put 100 million points of interest on that map, that are contained in the table we talk about, and now as you scroll the map, select the middle of view as your circle and select on a small radius only those points of interest inside that radius. The only one was PostgreSQL.Īnd before starting to bash me, please do this. Not Maria, not Access, not Oracle, not NoSQL, not MSSQL, not MySQL - all of them failed. Out of my tries, my clients tries, and my friends tries, only one DB was up to this task. And when you have a table with 100 million rows in it, and an application is not loading data from that table to show it to its users in the same second, you already lost the battle. My clients wanted to have data in front of their eyes the same second when they clicked the button. Nothing else mattered, not license price, not whistles and bells, not hype. For most of the projects where the DB really mattered, throughout my 10+ freelancer carrier, it came down to one thing that client really cared about. Scheduling is always helpful and practical whether you strategize a week ahead, the day before, or the day in the morning. The main differences are size, cost, voice control and the levels of immersive sound each is able to deliver. The 23.6 inch measurement you’re looking at is for the bracket that attaches to the TV’s mounting hardware, not the part that attaches to the Arc. Because the Ray lacks built-in microphones, it's the only soundbar that doesn't support any voice assistants, including the upcoming Sonos Voice Control. The Sonos Arc wall-mount holes take M5 screws, depth is said to be 20mm (I used 16mm screws), and the mounting holes are almost exactly 24 inches apart. Its only really suitable for being placed under a large flat-screen television and will look strange in. All three soundbars support music streaming over Wi-Fi (including AirPlay 2) and can be integrated in a larger multi-room or home theater system with other Sonos speakers. The Arc is on the larger side at 45 x 4.5 x 3.4 inches. The Ray is similar to Sonos's other soundbars as well, even if it doesn't support Dolby Atmos. The main difference, other than size and price, is that the Beam (Gen 2) lacks dedicated upward-firing drivers that really get the most out of Dolby Atmos content. At normal listening volumes, it falls within good limits, resulting in clean and pure audio reproduction. Both hook up to your TV via a single eARC connection, which is a newer version of ARC. The Sonos Arc has a decent stereo THD performance. Both are smart soundbars that can be set up to support voice commands from either Alexa or Google Assistant - and they will also work with Sonos Voice Control, the company's new voice assistant that rolls out in early June. The two Dolby Atmos soundbars, the Arc and the Beam (Gen 2), are more similar than they are different. Specs Drivers: 2 x 3-in aluminum elliptical cone woofer (8), 0. And finally, there's the Ray, which costs just $279, making it the company's most affordable soundbar yet. The current Sonos Arc is still very modern in terms of its features, so we dont expect a Sonos Arc 2 release date in 2022 it was three years from the original Sonos Beam soundbar to the Sonos. Specs Drivers: 2 x 3-in aluminum elliptical cone woofer (8), 0.75-in silk dome tweeter (3) Amplifier: Class-D, one per driver (power unspecified). The Beam (Gen 2) is a more compact Dolby Atmos soundbar that costs $449, making it half as expensive as the Arc. There's the Arc, its flagship Dolby Atmos soundbar that costs $899. Sonos now offers three different soundbars. When you go to bed at night, before you fall asleep, sit up for a few minutes and imagine that you are witnessing on the screen of your consciousness everything that happened during the day. Because our connection to the universal soul is much more obvious when we are dreaming, this process allows you to access a whole new level of coincidences. This is a way of putting yourself in the position of observer of your life, and of your dreams, so that connections and themes and images and coincidences become clearer. For people who want to delve deeply into coincidence, one of the processes I recommend is recapitulation. They start a new page for each significant coincidence, then jot down any other connections to that event on its page. Other people keep a special coincidence diary. For some people, it is easiest to maintain a daily journal and underline or highlight words or phrases or names of things that show up as coincidences. You can do this in any way that is easy for you. After years of note-taking, I classify coincidences as tiny, medium, whoppers, and double-whoppers. “Oh, so that’s what it was all about!”Īnother thing you can do to nurture coincidence is to keep a diary or journal of coincidences in your life. An encounter, a relationship, a chance meeting, a situation, a circumstance will immediately give you a clue to its meaning. Perhaps you will meet a person who is somehow related to the coincidence that occurred. They may arrive as a sudden insight, a spontaneous creative experience, or they may be something very different. Ask the question, and the answers will emerge. Ask yourself, What is the message here? What is the significance of this? You don’t need to go digging for the answers. When a coincidence arises, don’t ignore it. Synchrodestiny requires gaining access to a place deep within yourself, while at the same time awakening to the intricate dance of coincidences out in the physical world. This is a state I call synchrodestiny, in which it becomes possible to achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of our every desire. When you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. You also begin to encounter more and more coincidences in your life. Mundane things just don’t bother you anymore. Once you understand the way life really works-the flow of energy, information, and intelligence that directs every moment-then you begin to see the amazing potential in that moment. People who understand the true nature of reality, those whom some traditions call enlightened, lose all sense of fear or concern. We worry when opportunity approaches a little too closely, and hide deeper in the shadows when fear overcomes us. We are like children playing hide and seek, wanting to be found, yet hoping we won’t be, biting our nails with anticipation. Most of us go through life a little afraid, a little nervous, a little excited. Excerpted by permission of Harmony, a division of Random House, Inc. It is always assumed that schools have the money to implement the stuff NASA posts on its websites. In my 30 years of working for and/or watching NASA I feel that NASA aims virtually all of itself in terms of education and public outreach as if it is only talking to the the non-Walmart parts of the country – where people have a high technical expertise, easy Internet access, vote in urban trends, and have the income to pursue careers in exciting areas such as space exploration. I am going to generalize and will get in trouble for doing so. But NASA focuses on communities where the big buildings are schools. Often in Walmart America the largest building is a Walmart – and you have to drive for many miles to reach it. But here in non-Walmart America when you ask someone to name the largest building in their city or town people talk about lots of universities, arenas, skyscrapers, factories, etc. And NASA is historically a prime magnet for such ambitions. Yet I would submit that while both Walmart and non-Walmart Americas have different business and educational mixes, their residents both share an equal capacity and desire to learn – and explore. In the the other “Walmart” America the focus is more on retail and service economy. With that is a prerequisite focus on technical and scientific skills. In one America (“non-Walmart America”) education, medical, and high-end manufacturing jobs lead the local economy. In many ways there are “Two Americas” but not the ones you normally think about. And certain skilled portions of the labor market pay better than others. It goes without saying that more income usually means more opportunities for people. Households revolve around income – where it comes from – and where it ends up being spent. I always found them – and they were always near big Walmart box stores. at random looking for towns in flyover country that might have foreclosed buildings that could become Challenger Centers. I used to amuse myself by using Google Earth and its street view function to roam the U.S. We were always trying to understand where the underserved education markets were. I used to be on the board of Directors of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education. In my mind there is some overlap between the flyover country meme and what I consider to be a chronically underserved portion of America’s population when it comes to NASA outreach. You’ve all heard me rant about how I think NASA needs to readjust its education and public outreach efforts so as to reach the large sectors of America that do not usually get NASA’s attention. In 2016 people talked about “flyover country” without giving it too much thought as to what it meant other than that’s where Trump voters and/or Hillary haters lived. Tonight I came across another graphic on Facebook. I have had 3 publication requests to reuse my graphic. population that was not alive when humans landed on the moon.
